Chelsea Contracts Cause UEFA to Change Rules 

Following Chelsea FC’s trend of signing players on long-term contracts, UEFA has responded on its financial fair play rules and will set five-year limits over which a transfer fee can be spread. 

Although the transfer fee can only be spread for five years, Clubs will still be able to offer longer deals but will not be able to stretch the transfer fees. 

The change in UEFA’s rules will come into effect during the summer and will not apply retrospectively.
